Steam error "Failed to Contact Key Server"

If you get a message on Steam that says "Failed to Contact Key Server" you will need to launch the game from your Steam games library using the "Elite: Dangerous" entry in your games list rather than "Elite Dangerous: Horizons".

This will allow you to play both Elite Dangerous and Elite Dangerous: Horizons from now on.

If this is still not working for you, or if you are still getting this error message when launching Elite Dangerous then please do contact Steam support for further assistance.
